Pick Yourself

January 29th, 2014

“The opportunity of a lifetime is to pick yourself. Quit waiting to get picked; quit waiting for someone to give you permission; quit waiting for someone to say you are officially qualified… and pick yourself.”
— Seth Godin

Anita Bergen — Of course you’re qualified… You don’t need permission to be yourself !

Invisible Threads

January 28th, 2014

“An invisible thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break. May you be open to each thread that comes into your life – the golden ones and the coarse ones – and may you weave them into a brilliant and beautiful life.”
— Author Unknown

Anita Bergen – What a magnificent tapestry we can create with the golden rainbow of threads – the invisible connections and patterns that shape our lives!

Receive What You Believe

October 11th, 2013

“Anything that looks like chaos and calamity in your life is just the Universe’s way of saying ‘Trust me and we’ll make a life together that is beyond your wildest dreams.’ The key is to trust. There’s a bigger vision and purpose inside you that your small brain or Ego can imagine. The Universe has bigger and better plans for you. It’s your job to be of service and not get in your own way. You can only receive what you believe. When you trust you open yourself up to greater possibilities outside of your control or imagination. So what’s it gunna be? Fear or trust?”
— Author Unknown

Anita Bergen — Perhaps our biggest challenge is in “letting go”, allowing our inner spirit to lead, trusting that The Universe has greater plans for us than our fears could ever comprehend.

What We Are Meant to Do

August 23rd, 2013

“What we really want to do is what we are really meant to do. When we do what we are meant to do, money comes to us, doors open for us, we feel useful, and the work we do feels like play to us.”
— Julia Cameron

Anita Bergen — How do we discover exactly what we are meant to do?… We will make this discovery alone, in silence, listening to the “still, small voice” that speaks and sings to our heart, and not by rational reasoning in our head. The heart creates magic that the mind cannot ever imagine.

Take the Time to Share

July 26th, 2013

The majority of us lead quiet, unheralded lives as we pass through this world. There will most likely be no ticker-tape parades for us, no monuments created in our honor. But that does not lessen our possible impact, for there are scores of people waiting for someone just like us to come along; people who will appreciate our compassion, our unique talents. Someone who will live a happier life merely because we took the time to share what we had to give. Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have a potential to turn a life around. It’s overwhelming to consider the continuous opportunities there are to make our love felt.
— Leo Buscaglia

Anita Bergen — Someone, somewhere is in need and waiting — waiting for someone like you. Take some time to share your natural born talents: The talent to listen quietly, to show caring, compassion and an understanding smile or touch. To many suffering souls, these are the most precious, meaningful gifts you could ever share.

The Morning After Death

July 21st, 2013

It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart.
If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are.
— Author unknown, but greatly appreciated

The Bustle in a House
The Morning after Death
Is solemnest of industries
Enacted upon earth—
The Sweeping up the heart
And putting Love away
We shall not want to use again
Until Eternity.
— Emily Dickinson

Anita Bergen — I still turn to try to comfort you, Fergus – my loyal Scottie companion. But the sun has set, I no longer see my “shadow” and there’s a gaping hole in my heart in the shape of your memory. I still look to see you everywhere, you are imprinted on my soul.

Feeling Discouraged

May 25th, 2013

“There will always be times when you feel discouraged. I too have felt despair many times in my life, but I do not keep a chair for it; I will not entertain it. It is not allowed to eat from my plate. The reason is this: In my uttermost bones I know something, as do you. It is that there can be no despair when you remember why you came to Earth, who you serve, and who sent you here.”
  — Clarissa Pinkola Estes

Anita Bergen — At times we may feel discouraged, but we can’t afford to make it a lifestyle. Being discouraged takes up time and drains energy. Demonstrating who we are and tackling the tasks we came here to do are full time jobs. When we are truly grateful, there is no time left to be discouraged.

To Never Look Away…

April 17th, 2013

“To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never to forget.”
— Arundhati Roy

Anita Bergen — Life is a never-ending series of contradictions. But to live life fully, we must embrace the parts that are painful, try to understand the offensive, distasteful, or crude, bring hope to injustice and never forget to spread love and compassion wherever we are, today.

Life Is Short

March 18th, 2013

“Life is short. Each year passes more quickly than the previous one. It’s easy to deny yourself many of life’s simple pleasures because you want to be practical. Forget about practical and decide instead to become a joy collector. Always be on the lookout for gifts without ribbons. God is strewing them across your path right now. His gifts come tagged with a note: ‘Life can be wonderful. Do your best not to miss it!’ Enjoy what it is before it isn’t anymore. . . . Dare to slip on a pair of bunny slippers once in a while! Surprise yourself! Enjoy the little things because one day you’ll look back and realize they were the big things!”
-Barbara Johnson

Anita Bergen — Sometimes, being practical has its drawbacks. Take some time being totally impractical, joyously silly and radiantly carefree. Enjoy brilliantly singing your song. Make as much joy as you can. Life is short.

Impossibilities

March 2nd, 2013

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easy to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
— Muhammad Ali

Anita Bergen — Fear can make us accept that something is impossible to accomplish, overcome or change. However, all impossibilities shrink from the sheer determination of one who says, “I think I can do this!”
